Introduction to PHP

PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor is a widely used, general-purpose scripting language that was originally designed for web development to produce dynamic web pages. For this purpose, PHP code is embedded into the HTML source document and interpreted by a web server with a PHP processor module, which generates the web page document.

As a general-purpose programming language, PHP code is processed by an interpreter application in command-line mode performing desired operating system operations and producing program output on its standard output channel. It may also function as a graphical application. PHP is available as a processor for most modern web servers and as standalone interpreter on most operating systems and computing platforms.

USAGE:
PHP is a general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited to server-side web development where PHP generally runs on a web server. Any PHP code in a requested file is executed by the PHP runtime, usually to create dynamic web page content. It can also be used for command-line scripting and client-side GUI applications. PHP can be deployed on most web servers, many operating systems and platforms, and can be used with many relational database management systems. It is available free of charge, and the PHP Group provides the complete source code for users to build, customize and extend for their own use.[30]

PHP primarily acts as a filter,[31] taking input from a file or stream containing text and/or PHP instructions and outputs another stream of data; most commonly the output will be HTML. Since PHP 4, the PHP parser compiles input to produce bytecode for processing by the Zend Engine, giving improved performance over its interpreter predecessor.[32]

Originally designed to create dynamic web pages, PHP now focuses mainly on server-side scripting,[33] and it is similar to other server-side scripting languages that provide dynamic content from a web server to a client, such as Microsoft's Active Server PagesSun MicrosystemsJavaServer Pages,[34] and mod_perl. PHP has also attracted the development of manyframeworks that provide building blocks and a design structure to promote rapid application development (RAD). Some of these include CakePHPSymfonyCodeIgniter, and Zend Framework, offering features similar to other web application frameworks.

The LAMP architecture has become popular in the web industry as a way of deploying web applications. PHP is commonly used as the P in this bundle alongside LinuxApache andMySQL, although the P may also refer to Python or Perl or some combination of the three.
As of April 2007, over 20 million Internet domains had web services hosted on servers with PHP installed and mod_php was recorded as the most popular Apache HTTP Servermodule.[35] Significant websites are written in PHP including the user-facing portion of Facebook,[36] Wikipedia (MediaWiki),[37] Yahoo!,[citation needed] MyYearbook,[citation needed] Digg[38]JoomlaeZ PublishWordPress,[39] YouTube in its early stages, [citation needed] Drupal [40] and Moodle.[41]

The Beginning of Everything

Okay, as you all know, I am not pleased for journal writing yet I'm addicted to it. I've not written my journal for quite long time, so I took a step forward; hence making me, myself become more interested to carry on the task. It does not require much energy, but just time. Yet, it is so meaningful and gives me satisfaction. My next year theme? Wait for that in my upcoming posts...

'Proto-Malays the origins of the human race'

Research in archaeology and genetics could very well prove that the ancient Proto-Malays living in the Sunda Shelf were the ancestors of the human population today. The term Proto-Malay, which translates to Melayu asli (aboriginal Malay) or Melayu purba (ancient Malay), refers to the Mongoloids and Austronesian speakers from mainland Asia who moved to the Malay peninsular and Malay archipelago in a long series of migrations between 2500 and 1500 BC. The Proto-Malays are believed to be seafarers knowledgeable in oceanography and possessing advanced fishing as well as basic agricultural skills. They moved around from island to island in great distances between New Zealand and Madagascar, and they served as navigation guides, crew and labour to Indian, Arab, Persian and Chinese traders for nearly 2000 years. Over the years, they settled at various places and adopted various cultures and religions as a result of acculturation and interracial and inter-tribal marriages with mos...
