Top 10 countries creating the most negative environmental impact

SOURCE: http://news.malaysia.msn.com/photogallery.aspx?cp-documentid=4098508 Malaysia is one of the top ten countries creating the most negative environmental impact in the world, according to a new study released by University of Adelaide Environmental Institute of Australia. The study, Evaluating the Relative Environmental Impact of Countries, uses seven indicators of environmental degradation; natural forest loss, habitat conversion, marine captures, fertilizer use, water pollution, carbon emissions and species threat. Unlike the existing rankings, this study deliberately shuns human health and economic data, and instead focused on environmental impact only. Other variables; bushmeat harvest, coral reef habitat quality, seagrass loss, freshwater habitat degradation, illegal fishing, invertebrate threat patterns, and some forms of greenhouse gas emission, were eliminated due to a lack of country-specific data. Environmental protection is crucial to maintain the ecosystem services tha...

From my point of view, yesterday- 28th March 2009 was a successful day to the Earth. Thanks to the people for switching off lights from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm (1 hour). At night, my family and I have a walk arund Suadamai area. We found that '60 earth Hour' is a very effective programme. It has made most of the houses swith off their lights. . Statistic: - 66% - Close all of the lights. - 30% - Open only 1 light or lit a candle. - 4% - Do not swich off any lights. - 100% - TOTAL - The programme was succeed. PRINT THIS BLOG

We can make a difference to Earth.

60 Earth Hour was observed yesterday around the world. It had one mission: an act by the global population in unison to create a new awareness on the state of affairs of planet Earth. . Organised by World Wide Fund for Nature, Earth Hour has been hailed as the biggest ever global movement involving hundreds of millions of people who participated by switching off non-essential lighting for an hour yesterday. Cities ranging from Las Vegas to Sydney, from Cape Town to Kuala Lumpur went dark for an hour. It was a highly symbolic event that demonstrated an opportunity on how the problems of the world can be collectively tackled. One such problem relates to the seriousness of climate change. One such opportunity is in Copenhagen this December where world leaders will discuss and hopefully agree on the need for a global climate deal. . For this purpose, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon reportedly urged citizens around the world to join Earth Hour to demand action on climate change...

TABIAT 'TAK-PA' BUMI BINASA: VERSI ATUK OH ATUK

Sayangilah bumi kita. Akhir kata, alam sekitar, tanggungjawab kita bersama.
